Feature Terms

1. Contracting party and service scope

These Terms of Service (Terms) govern your access to and use of DeepScientist and related services under the ResearAI brand.

Service scope includes:

  • Automated scientific discovery workflows.
  • AutoFigure / AutoFigure-Edit for scientific diagrams.
  • DeepReviewer for AI-assisted manuscript review and revision guidance.

By accessing or using the service, you agree to these Terms.

2. Eligibility and regional restrictions

  • You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering this agreement.
  • You must comply with all applicable laws, sanctions, and export-control restrictions.
  • The service is not available to users located in Mainland China.
  • If we detect restricted-region usage, we may suspend access or terminate service.

3. Accounts, invitations, and security

  • Access may require an invitation code and/or third-party authentication (such as Google OAuth).
  • You are responsible for keeping your account, credentials, and API tokens secure.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • If you suspect unauthorized access, notify us promptly and rotate compromised credentials.

4. Pricing, points, payments, and billing

  • Current pricing and plan details are published at /pricing or inside the relevant in-product purchase dialog.
  • Billing is points-based and server-authoritative. UI estimates are informational only.
  • For metered actions, final points may be settled after execution using measured usage.
  • Plan grants, daily refresh, paid credit cards, activation-code grants, and feature entitlements are governed by backend rules and ledger records.
  • Paid items may include subscription plans, normal-point credits, AutoFigure-Edit credit cards, activation codes, or other digital service entitlements.
  • By clicking a purchase, activation, auto-charge, or usage-confirmation button, you authorize the applicable payment, point deduction, or entitlement settlement shown at that time.

4.1 Points types

  • Daily points refresh at UTC 00:00. Unused daily points do not roll over to the next day.
  • Normal points are persistent credits managed in buckets. Depending on plan or campaign rules, some normal-point buckets may expire.
  • AutoFigure-Edit credits are normal-point grants intended for AutoFigure-Edit workloads. Unless stated otherwise, the official DeepScientist provider uses 998 points per 4K run.

4.2 Consumption order

  • Points are consumed in this fixed order: Daily points first, then Normal points.
  • For normal-point buckets, backend uses FEFO (first-expire, first-out): buckets with earlier expiry are consumed first.

4.3 Settlement and final charge

  • Pre-run estimates shown in product UI are for guidance only.
  • Final settlement is computed by backend after execution (when action is token-metered or usage-metered).
  • Consumption events and ledger records are persisted for auditability.
  • If execution fails and settlement conditions are not met, final charge may be reduced to zero according to backend settlement rules.

4.4 AutoFigure-Edit v1.5 paid credits

  • AutoFigure-Edit v1.5 official runs may use platform-provided AI models and infrastructure. The current official pipeline is expected to use GPT-Image-2 for 4K / 16:9 image generation and Gemini-3.1-Pro-Preview for native PPT generation, subject to model availability, provider policy, and product updates.
  • If you choose a custom API / bring-your-own-key mode, you are responsible for your own provider account, quota, costs, model availability, and provider terms. In that mode, you generally do not need to buy AutoFigure-Edit platform credits for the model call itself, unless the product dialog states that a separate platform service fee applies.
  • At present, only AutoFigure-Edit credits are open for direct in-product credit purchase.
  • Free, Plus, Pro, and Max users may all access AutoFigure-Edit. Product dialogs determine whether a given official-provider run requires points.
  • AutoFigure-Edit credit cards are digital service entitlements. Payment links may be opened through third-party payment pages. We do not control third-party payment processors, banks, card networks, or exchange-rate handling.
  • Purchase prices, discounts, cost-price notices, and included benefits are shown before purchase. Promotional or trial-operation prices may change prospectively.
  • After payment, an activation code or entitlement may need to be redeemed in the product. You are responsible for entering the correct account and activation code.

4.5 Third-party payments and taxes

  • Payments may be processed by third-party providers. Their own terms, privacy notices, fraud checks, and settlement rules may apply.
  • You are responsible for any bank fees, payment-channel fees, currency conversion costs, taxes, or similar charges imposed outside our platform.
  • We may refuse, cancel, suspend, or review a purchase where fraud, abuse, sanctions risk, restricted-region use, payment dispute, or account-security risk is suspected.

5. Refund policy

  • Refund rules are published at /refund and incorporated by reference.
  • Unless required by applicable law, payments are non-refundable once the billing period starts, points are granted, an activation code is redeemed, or a digital service entitlement is delivered.
  • For AutoFigure-Edit quality-review refund requests, this discretionary path is available only for the first use after the first purchase. You must complete both required steps: submit a refund request on the same original purchase-link / payment website, and email the task URL, account email, and a 20-50 word note describing the concrete shortcomings to resear.ai@gmail.com. Repeat uses, later runs, or subsequent purchases are not eligible, and review starts only after both records are received.
  • Limited exceptions may apply to verified duplicate billing, platform-side settlement defects, or paid service/points delivery failure that cannot be remediated within a reasonable time.
  • Dissatisfaction with AI output quality, model style, generation randomness, third-party provider latency, or the user's decision not to use purchased credits generally does not create a refund right if the service was made available and backend settlement records show delivery or valid consumption.
  • Trial-operation AutoFigure-Edit credit cards and activation codes currently do not include invoice issuance unless a product page expressly states otherwise.

6. Acceptable use and scientific integrity

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Engage in illegal, harmful, abusive, or fraudulent activity.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data.
  • Upload or distribute malware, or otherwise disrupt the Service.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, probe, or bypass security or access controls.
  • Infringe intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality, or other rights of others.
  • Conduct academic misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or undisclosed automated authorship that violates your institution or publisher policies.
  • Misrepresent AI-generated content as verified scientific findings without appropriate human verification.

7. AI features and risk limitations

DeepScientist includes AI-assisted features (for example: chat assistance, tool execution, AutoFigure, and workflow automation).

  • AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. You must independently verify outputs before relying on them.
  • The Service is not a substitute for professional judgment, peer review, or institutional compliance.
  • You are responsible for how you use AI outputs, including any disclosures required by your institution, journal, or funding body.
  • The service is not legal, medical, financial, or regulatory advice.

8. Third-party services and integrations

The service may integrate with third-party providers (for example AI model providers, Google OAuth, arXiv). Your use of those providers may be governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party systems.

9. Content and intellectual property

  • You retain ownership of content you upload or create in the Service (User Content).
  • You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, and display User Content solely to provide and operate the Service.
  • You represent that you have the rights necessary to provide User Content and that doing so does not violate applicable law or third-party rights.
  • We own the Service, including software, design, and branding, and all related intellectual property, except for User Content.

10. Privacy and data handling

Our Privacy Policy at /privacy explains how we collect, use, and share information. By using the service, you acknowledge that your data may be processed as described there.

11. Availability, changes, and beta features

We may modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time for legal, safety, product, or operational reasons. Some features may be marked beta and may change without notice.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, or if required by law. You may stop using the Service at any time.

13. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED AS IS AND AS AVAILABLE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REVENUE, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

15. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service or your User Content.

16. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China.

Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the Service shall be submitted to the Intermediate People’s Court of Hangzhou, Zhejiang, People’s Republic of China.

18. Updates

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes acceptance.
